Did you know that nearly half of the 450+ elementary aged children in Holdrege qualify for free or reduced lunches? Many of them don’t have warm clothing for the winter – especially for playing outside at recess! That’s why our Worshiping Community participates in FAME (Family Assistance Matters Everyday) which is sponsored through the YMCA in partnership with our local elementary schools.
We are currently collecting new (or gently used) coats, hats, boots, mittens, snow pants, scarves, and the like to distribute to elementary school students who need them during Fall parent-teacher conferences.
How can you help?
- Bring your items to worship on Sundays until October 9. We’ll make sure they end up in the right place.
- Volunteer to help sort items on Saturday, October 15 at 8:00am at First Presbyterian Church.
