Community Partnerships

Spirit of Grace is about partnerships!  Through our experience of being a church without a building, we’ve learned that we are dependent upon God and our fellow Christians.  We’ve also learned that we have a lot to offer.  We’re grateful for these community partners.

An article ran in the November 18, 2011 edition of the Holdrege Daily Citizen about our partnerships.  Read the article online >

First Presbyterian Church of Holdrege, NE

First Presbyterian ChurchFirst Presbyterian reached out to us early in our life as a worshiping community, offering us the opportunity to share Sunday School with them.  The result has been that Spirit of Grace has gained a Sunday School while First Presbyterian has experienced a revitalized Sunday morning educational program.  Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart Jr., pastor of First Presbyterian, put it best:

Doing the joint Sunday School with Spirit of Grace has brought new life into our Sunday School programs.  It’s given us broader perspective on our Christian faith and has led to more variety and excitement.

St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, Holdrege, NE

When we were looking for a place to launch our Grace Place program, we realized that we had enthusiastic people to serve the ministry, but we didn’t have a building to host it.  We found a wonderful partner in St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church.  They open their doors to us on Wednesday nights for Grace Place, offering not only space but also the commitment of their own volunteers.  This partnership has brought new energy and vitality to both communities.  We’re grateful for the support and partnership of Rev. Karen Watson, rector at St. Elizabeth’s.  Read more about Grace Place >

Seeds of Faith Lutheran Church, Lisbon, IA

Seeds of Faith is a relatively new congregation which constructed a permanent building for worship in 2009.  In July 2011 their pastor, Rev. Stephanie Wherry, approached Spirit of Grace about the donation of a trailer.  It had housed some of their equipment as they traveled to worship in several different venues in the early life of their congregation.  They were looking for a new way it could be used for mission and ministry, so they donated it to Spirit of Grace!  Pastor Ted, Barry Daffer, and Russell and Kay Edeal traveled to Lisbon, IA on December 3-4, 2011 to receive the trailer and begin a new partnership.
